Gadget In The House~~ STEELSERIES KANA

I got a SteelSeries Kana gaming mouse for my 22nd birthday this year, and I can't be more excited because all this while, I've been gaming with the Logitech M100; kinda like a standard office mouse if you take a look at it. Of course throughout my gaming "career", I've had opportunities trying out other gaming mice such as Razor Death Addear, Razor Abyssus, and other variants. I personally never own one until NOW.

All this while, I've been used to lightweight mouse (since I'm a hardcore fan of fast-pace FPS), and the Kana is something I have to get used to. Kana weighs about 72g, and the Logitech M100 feels almost a quarter lighter than the Kana. When I'm playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 with my friends, I always make sure I can "swing" my mouse around easily so I can cover 360 degrees of my surrounding. A lighter mouse also doesn't make my hand fatigue in long hours of gaming. Fatigue? How? I've this weird style/habit of lifting the mouse above the surface because I feel I have more control on the character than just laying the mouse flat on the table all the time. So when I first switched to the Kana, at one point my hand felt like it was about to cramp. But that's no big deal.

Button wise, I like it simple. I've seen some gaming mouse with a bunch of buttons on the side and the top. Even for the Kana, I haven't find any use for the buttons on both sides in my gaming (except for browsing then you get to go back and forth the page). I would understand if you're a hardcore RPG character that constantly juggles with the abundant of skills the character has, then you would see the need for the extra buttons. Other than that, it serves as an extra feature that some of us might not use. That button below the wheel is for adjusting the sensitivity of the cursor. You can switch between two sensitivities: the standard one you have, and higher sensitivity. This setting can be change using the SteelSeries Engine for the Kana where you can also do other fine-tuning.

Maybe because I'm very used to the M100, but the tracking of the Kana makes me feel as if there're some weight associated to the cursor. I just kinda feels like it's "heavy", maybe due to the acceleration. Anyone feels the same? I would like some insight on this, though.

Anyhow, I wouldn't claim that this is the BEST gaming mouse in the world since there're many others out in the market. I'm sure everyone has their own preference; weight, style, height, presentation, # of buttons, etc. But for anyone who enjoys high-paced FPS... THIS IS ONE MOUSE I WOULD RECOMMEND.
